Week #1 - June 8th

Mizuna ( will also have red dot on the outside of the crate)  White stems-will look a lot like the Mustard but Mizuna has white stems, Mustard has green

Shueling Mustard Greens- green all the way through leaves through the stems

Boc Choi-blocky, green leave with a very heavy white stem end.

Chinese Cabbage-looser with no real stem end.  The leaves go to the base.

Arugula

All of the early greens are from the same family and end up with very similar uses and nearly the same peppery taste. There will be small holes in the leaves.  We have been doing everything organically possible to deal with the beetle that loves this early green, the Flea Beetle.  Not a flea, it is small and moves very quickly hence the name.  The damage is cosmetic and the excessive heat and dry weather this spring were ideal conditions for the beetle to flourish.  We must stay true to our Organic Standards and this is one of the concessions we all make.

More info updated tomorrow morning...
